What is a Landing Page?
Have you ever wondered, "What is a landing page?" when webmasters and internet folk are talking about getting visitors?
When their website is built, many people think that all website visitors will start at their home page, and work their way through the content.
If the website content provider/webmaster is doing a good job, many - if not all - pages on a website will appear in search engine results, so that when the links are clicked on, the visitor is taken to one specific page. They've read the search engine results Description, now they want to read more. This one page is now considered to be a 'landing page', and the web visitor enters your website through a page other than the Home page
It's very important to give this some thought - when visitors land on your internal web pages, do the pages:
- clearly state what the website is about? This could be the Banner and slogan
- have a Call To Action, either a Buy Now button, a Sign Up button, or a request for the visitor to DO something?
- clearly show Contact details - how to get in touch if the visitor has questions?
Remember that you have 7-10 seconds to get someone's attention once they've landed on any one of your webpages - so make it count by having the information about the "topic" of the page clearly visible -- make it easy for the visitor to decide to DO something once they've read your fabulous content.
I hope this helps you focus on making each web page convey your message to all your website visitors.
