How do I use Twitter?
Hi there - this is Teena Hughes. One of the more common questions I'm asked is, "How do I use Twitter???"
When I was a newbie on Twitter (July 2009) I was TOTALLY overwhelmed by the number of tweets I started to receive, by following just a handful of people. Each morning when I logged in I tried DESPERATELY to read back over the past few hours, trying to catch up with what had happened, and it wasn't too long before I realised how futile a task that was.
In fact, I wish I'd seen this video way back then - I might have lost that deer-in-the-headlights look way sooner :-)
. .
Now I've been using Twitter for almost a year, I have been through the overwhelm and come out the other side - still alive - and enjoying the marvellous people I've met through Twitter. I'd like to share a few simple tips about Twitter so that your experience is a good one :-)

Private tweets are called DIRECT MESSAGES or DMs. To send a private tweet to someone you're following (and who is also following you), type a d and then the Twitter name, like this: d build_website (note that you do not use the @ symbol for DMs. Example: d build_website Thanks for that info! |
