Today's Tips
- Is your email/address updated?
- Beware! Shonky domain renewals!
- Aussie clients - local free marketing
- All clients - free online marketing
Hi there,
I hope this finds you well!
You're receiving this email because you've purchased hosting, a website and/or domain name or other service through BuildAWebsiteTonight.com.
Tips!
1. Is your email/address updated?
Every now and then I'll get a frantic call from a client whose website has gone offline or their domain name has disappeared and their email isn't working.
This happens when the email name in your hosting account or your domain account isn't up-to-date. If you don't keep this email name up-to-date, the automated Renewal emails will bounce, and your website or domain name will stop working.
To reinstate may end up costing you additional fees - in the meantime your emails and/or website will stop working altogether. Remedy : a) Login to your hosting account (or your domain account if you only have a domain name with us) and make sure your details are up-to-date.
b) Make a note of the renewal date on your calendar, in your bills-to-be-paid paperwork, etc and allow a couple of weeks before the expiry date. Check now before you miss out on emails or lose customers:

2. Beware! Shonky domain renewals!
I'd like to share one of my client questions with you today, about Domain Name renewals arriving in the post.
There are quite a few shonky/bad companies who quite legally send out domain name renewals - but they are not coming from the company where you bought your domain name. Beware! They also send them months before or months after the renewal date, hoping to catch unsuspecting people. These people get away with charging higher prices and tricking you into paying them money.
Remedy: If you purchased your domain name through my company BuildAWebsiteTonight.com, you will NOT receive a renewal in the regular post unless you request it. Renewals are always by email.
3. Aussie clients - local free marketing
If you're not doing any marketing for your website or business, it's never too late to start. Over the next few weeks I'll share the name of some local websites where you can market your business and services - for free. If you'd like to share any, simply email me back and I'll add them to the list - thanks! Remedy:
Sign up on local Directories - use your keywords in the short blurb to describe your business/service. Each one of these place you sign up with will provide a link on their website back to your website - this becomes a genuine incoming link which helps your website ranking. There is going to be a long list over the next month or so, so start a spreadsheet or write the details in a book by your computer - you'll need to keep track of all the logins and passwords:
4. All clients - free online marketing Remedy:
Remember - each one of these listings becomes an important incoming link back to your website.
- Google Local - an excellent source of traffic :

Clever marketing for all:
1. Create an account at http://twitter.com - post your business name's twitter account link on your website, and mention it in all your client and prospect emails and correspondence. Encourage everyone to ask you a question - the best part of doing this is that they only have 140 characters/keystrokes to write their question :-) When you reply, you're showing others that you care about your clients and potential clients enough to answer their questions personally (or have someone help you).
Each question on twitter can become a blog post you can build on, (and link between twitter, blog, and website) and you can also write a page about it on your site., mention it in your next newsletter, and get lots of mileage out of the one question - all the time building confidence and loyalty with your followers. 2. Create a Google Alert for your name, your business name, your url, and your product/service names (even your competitor name and product names etc). You'll get email alerts when any of these are mentioned on the internet, and this will help you know what people are saying about you and your business. http://google.com/alerts
I do hope these tips help you - let me know your thoughts and questions by posting them on http://twitter.com/build_website
